Mr. Byrne has trained or supervised the training of nearly 180 different breeds of dogs from 47 of the 50 United States of America and 5 countries. In 2006 Stonehill Kennel was awarded the exclusive contract to provide dogs to the New York City Police Department (NYPD) for Emergency Services (ESU) and Transit K-9. Following the events of September 11, 2001 Mr. Byrne was awarded the exclusive Bomb Detection Dog contract to protect the support sites of the World Trade Center recovery mission working with FEMA, the NYPD, OEM and the FBI. Additionally Mr. Byrne was providing Bomb Detection Dog Teams and supervising the protection of the Empire State Building and Federal Plaza NY among others.
Mr. Byrne possesses experience in Law Enforcement and Property Management. He is an internationally published author of Dog Training and Bomb Detection articles in the USA and Europe. He has been interviewed by national and foreign News agencies on the use of Detection Dogs in the War Against Terror and has appeared as a frequent guest speaker on talk radio on the subjects of Homeland Security and Dog Training.
